Hello sunnies,

Before Dhrumil the pied piper revolutionary behind "We Like it Raw" and Give it to Me Raw" dazzles us with his kick ass guest blog (tomorrow), I'd like to take a big ole Crazy Sexy Poll. You see, Dhrumil does way more than just educate and unify the raw community with his electric social hubs, he and his gang are the web wonder men in charge of creating OUR forum.

Drum roll...

The Crazy Sexy Community Forum will be going live on my 5 year cancerversary, this Valentine's day - February 14th! It will be a very big day for me/us. Sooo, if you could take a moment and toss some of YOUR ideas out there, the Crazy Sexy team we would much appreciate it. What would you like to see in the village green (the place we gather to chat n' chew) on day one?

Here are some examples from my brain:

Crazy Sexy (fill in the blank)....
Basic detox
Spirtuality
Recipes
Juicing
Meet ups
Intimacy (XX) :)
Colon cleansing
Scan days
Electric altar
Supplements
Welcome (for new members)

Now you.

Peace and brainstorming,
kris

PS. If there are any forums that you really like, let us know, we'll take a look and see if we can add some of their helpful tips to our special community.

Hi, Kris, and thanks by the way for your encouraging words on your post the other day! And thanks to everyone who prayed and thought good thoughts. sometimes I think I forget to be thankful for my "army" i get so caught up in the crappy canser thang.

Anyway, my thought might be a brand new diagnosis. just for the brand brand new person who is reeling from recent news.

Did you mention excercise? anyway, excercise of some sort. For the bikers, runners, swimmers in the audience. (a workout room hee hee!)

Those are my two cents.

Thinking of MHC? I think you had surgery today.

Raining buckets here.

Take care everyone!

Hey Kris and Brian(cs hubby)
You got the big D, Wow! Give it to me raw is so wonderful...so much support and an growing community.

How about a segment just on the emotional aspects of things..how to deal, how to help the family deal, how to heal emotional wounds etc? I know I need help with that stuff.

Meditation is important too...seems like I never get to it.. but it is vital.

love to you all,
deb

I second Deb's meditation. Also, will there be a place for links? I love to find new websites that keep me on this road.

Happy Ash Wednesday,
I am in on all accounts. I think it would be so nice to help those just diagnosed and in "numbville" to reconnect and be empowered. One thing this site does well is empower all of us. We all have learned from you Kris that we are not by any means powerless over canser and we can take control. This forum will be an esstentail tool in that control. SO... Since the medical community has the unfortunate job of turning on the switch that sends us all into a fear and panic... lets take a moment to show people that each day living with "what" you have is being a survivor. The I vote for them all. I cannot wait to be there for the opening!

Becky. I am sorry you have be drenched in all this.. It c an be consuming.. Don't let that happen. Change the channel in your brain. The "IF" channel is so much better than the "WHAT IF" Channel. Stick close we are praying and cheering for you. Plan you life , make your dreams happen. I cannot believe it will be one week today that I have not had cancer and all I can say is I am speechless.. But I am happy I have lived my life.. not lived my cancer. This may last forever or a week. Either way I am riding the wave of life and living as a person with or now without something not Cancer with a person.. I have it not it has me. I hope this makes sense.

Just to let you know Becky called after her surgery. She was in a ton of pain and meds but she said the surgery went well and all looked good. They would not know for sure for 5 days.. so keep her in your prayers..

I am so happy things look good for her. She like all of us were so scared.

Just a thought.. today is ash wednesday and tonight Basic Missions will begin a meditation a day....throughout lent.. something along spending some time with God in the next forty days and rejoicing in the life he has given us. Not the old fashioned give soemething up.. the Callie lent of taking some time to spend in prayer or mediation a day a little something special to get us ready for Easter and starting a new year with spring blooming inside us as well as outside. If you interested.. comeby and visit aroung 8 pm.

Kris I am so looking forward to all the subjects. Keep up the great work. Much love and blessings. Callie

Hi Kris! Just finished your book and it was awesome!
I'm just a lurker with too many friends and family being diagnosed with the little "c".
Your book has made me re-evaluate my family's diet (we're true blue carnivores) and I'd like to slowly wean all of us to at LEAST 80/20...
Hopefully in your forum there would be a small portion dedicated to those that want to change their diet for the better and AVOID getting sick.
Love your posts! Keep on rockin'!
Big hugs and a little sunshine,
Carla

Everyone has some funny quirks, traditions, rituals (what have you) when they head off to the castle for scans. Oh boy do I have tons! ex. -- Duplicating the activities I did prior to receiving a "good news scan" before heading to another, are just the tip of the iceberg! It would be interesting to relish in each other's superstitions, and perhaps pick up a few new ones! ;-)

cancer cowgirl xo said...

Tahdel - You are hysterical and so right! I touch the scan bed before sliding in, i do the same thing before getting on a plane. Silly, but if I touch the big machines before I trust my life to them then I send white light voodoo vibes that ensure my safety. Crazy!

Hey Kris & CSC Gang,

Since I gave up wheat grass juice for allergies, I've been wondering if the green vegetable juice is doing as much good so I'd be interested in hearing what you thought about that and possibly which supplements could help. Currently I'm taking spirulina and chlorella. I was putting green vibrance in the green juice, but quit when I noticed that it has dried wheat grass in it.

I recently started using a rebounder & what a difference! It gives me energy and tones everything. Supposed to be good for lymphedema, too.

Big prayers and hugs for ALL!

I would like to talk about relationships and starting over. My SO ran away after my diagnosis and surgery. I am almost finished with radiation (Feb 11), starting on tamoxifen, and ... looking for a new job. That's right, I was laid off with one day's notice. I am almost afraid to go out the door, for fear of what ELSE might be out there.

All of this ideas rock! Maybe a section for inspirational/stimulating media: books, movies, plays, etc that inspire and motivate you?

BaldyLocks said...

This may fall in the intimacy section but I would like to see dating.

I also like anything to with humour. We might as well have a little fun!

Jenny said...

Kris,
I'd love to see a section on activism. We can all use info. on issues important to us & what our elected officials are doing (or not doing) to help us. One important issue of course is the need for "free" health care for all. Also, funding for canser research.

Perhaps a section for teens who have a parent living with canser.
I used to post here as "sweetlife" & I told you then that my daughters may not want to talk to me, but they think you are very cool!

Of course the book club is already getting started...maybe have a section of book reviews written by us...and others.

Some kind of section to jump start our "artistic mojo" Perhaps info. about workshops that are free (or not) that would be of interest to us....like your friend Jodi Sax's LifeLab..you could have everyone post the things they know about...art, photography, music, seminars, retreats, etc.

We could even book a Crazy Sexy Canser cruise someday! With vegan food, wheat grass shots, colonics, etc.....a floating health spa & party!
I'll keep thinking about it & let you know if I come up w/ more ideas. I LOVE this community & am so incredibly GRATEFUL for everyone here!

ALSO....
I went for my PET/CT today. It went smoothly....I didn't have a driver & didn't let them give me valium like they wanted to. I took one of my own xanax & breathing exercises & everything went great. Now I just wait for the results.
I breathed in: all
out: clear
during the test & that's the result I expect!
Love you all!

OMG, Kris. Too funny. I do the same thing on a plane, touching the body on the way through the door to give it a little love before I trust my life with it. Thought it was only me.

For the website, what about a freecycle section? Might be tricky to manage and organize. But for me, I've got my Waring Pro Juicer here that's only a few months old and gathering dust. I just upgraded to the Breville last month after realizing this green juice thing was going to stick. But I loved my Waring Pro, it's in great condition, in the original box, and it served me well when I was figuring out this juicing thing. I'd love to pass it on to someone and would even spring for UPS to ship it in the US. So, maybe a forum like that on the new site?

Callie, thanks for being the cowgirl wrangler and keeping us all updated on Becky and MHC. You've got a gift, girl, and it's empowering to see how generously you use it!

Jenny, I'm so glad your PET scan went well and will be sending tons of all clear energy your way this week!

Alright ladies and Clint. (And all the other fabulous CS men out there!) It's the dreariest of dreary days here but I'm digging deep and finding all I can that's beautiful about wet rain on wet snow on wet sleet in the city.

Have a wonderful, fantastic day.

Be well,

*heather*

PS. Debbie, I'm still giggling at that picture on your blog from a few days back with the two guys in the swimming pool with an electrical power strip plugged in and floating in the water on a pair of flip flops. It makes me laugh every time I think of it!

Kris, It just gets better and better...a simple thank you doesn't seem to be enough for all you do, but it will have to do for now.

I love love your ideas and so many others here. Pretty sure someone mentioned it, so I second a section for website links...lately I've been writing them all down so I don't miss out or try to remember which post it came from!! I'm not sure how the forum would work, but titles/headings for them might be helpful.

How about a place for quotes and inspirational sayings, too? I little thought to take you through the day?

Cannot wait..such great work, so much to be thankful for here.

HELLLLOOO my gorgeous CSC community! How is everyone this wonderful Wednesday? (yes, I am uber chipper- for those wondering, my cancervisary was two days ago, original date 02/04/05 and I celebrated by...doing absolutely nothing. LOL. Business school has a way of taking over your life! If any of you have good ideas on a fun way to mark the diagnosis date, I'd love to hear them! Moving on...)

I am really excited for this community for so many ways, and what better a team to do it then the wonderfulness from GITMR?!

I think a 'connect' section would be great, a place where we could have bios/our stories and where we could read others; an exercise/work out section would be fantastic as well, everything from ashtanga yoga to tai chi, kickboxing, duck walking, whatever!; meditation would be great as well but could be tricky to make a complete section devoted to it unless you get really specific, maybe combine that in with the 'connect' forum?; and maybe a forum for the book club and it's dicussions? Or just 'inspired reading' in general, where we can recommend books, talk about ones we love, ones we think others should read etc. I think a section for our cancer co-survivors would be especially helpful as well. I could go on and on but those are some of the ones bouncing around in my skull right now.

SMILE EVERYONE! You're all so incredible, gorgeous, and moving spirits that you deserve nothing short of the happiest day you can possibly stand. :)

Hi I'm a lurker unlurking lol. It would be cool to have an international section in the forum - I'm in the UK but completely love what you do - brings me up when I start worrying. My husband had surgery for testicular canser in November, and touch wood, he's clear - just had his second CT scan and it looks good, but we want to keep him that way so are sticking with the diet changes, supplements, meditation etc. I love the way you embrace life instead of getting dragged into the darkness - huge thanks for my daily feel good read :-)

HELLO! I'm a newbie here...been lurking for several months now but I'm out!

I just want to say I'm thrilled about the forum! Just having a place to find recipes, etc. that you guys have discussed will be a huge help.

Just so you will know who I am, I am a 37-year old mom of two (3 and 5) trying to eat well and get back into shape. My excuse of "I just had a baby" doesn't work when your youngest is 3 years old!!! I bought a juicer, use it twice a day, eat raw as much as possible but still can't resist a burger from the grill and a cold adult beverage now and then. Please don't shoot! I had my first colonic last week and I'm spending way too much time at Whole Foods these days! I am grateful not to have canSer, but both of my parents do and I lost my mother in law to it so I feel a connection to those of you here who do.

I look forward to seeing you here and at the new forums!

I could really use some advise

Some of you may remember my Father-In-Law is in the hospital (skilled nursing home), for the last month, after having knee surgery because of a major infection in that knee. He also just finished up chemo in October for lung cancer. He was supposed to be moved to another nursing home this week because he just finished up one of his antibiotic therapies, but now he is being sent back to the hospital because he is low on hemoglobin and he has fluid in his lungs. He was just given blood 2 days ago because he was low, but it didn't seem to help. They want to get him back to the hospital tonight to try to figure out where the blood is going and why he has fluid in his lungs. I'm so scared and I need to know a few things. Can the low hemoglobin be a side effect of the chemo that ended in October, or the knee surgery? What about the fluid in the lungs. I'm freaking out! I have to get this off my chest. A week before my FIL was diagnosed with lung cancer I had a dream that he had passed away and it was such an intense dream that I woke up crying. I have only had that kind dream one other time about my boyfriend many years ago, and my boyfriend ended up being killed in a car accident after that. WTF! When I found out he had cancer my hairs stood up on end. Please god let this be a cooincidence. I haven't been able to shake the feeling that he isn't going to be coming home from the hospital. I don't want to be right about this. I don't want to have such horrible thoughts. I've been trying to stay positive, but he just isn't getting better. What is wrong with me. I feel evil or dirty or something for having this dream and these feelings. I can't believe I'm telling you all this. Please don't think badly of me. I love my FIL like he is my biological father. I cry about his health everyday. What is happening to him?

goony~ I'm praying for him and you all, try to hang in there ok. and please don't feel bad about how you feel- i'd feel the same. we are human, we get scared, worried, sad, there is nothing wrong with you. shower your FIL with love and cast you worries onto God, and try to let His peace sustain you in this time

arose said...

gooney - about the anemia - I asked my hubby and he said that you need to know what type of anemia your FIL has, there are three and each one has 4 - 11 possible causes. And, someone who is older tends to be more anemic than a younger person. But, the first thing to rule out is a bleed somewhere. Sorry that doesn't really help you but there are just lots of things that can contribute.

But, about the dreams, please know that it may be that you are blessed with a gift and that the messages you get are not intended to scare or distrub you but actually help you. Maybe you get 'good' messages as well but don't pay attention as they are not so 'dramatic'. Anyway, I don't think you are anything but perfectly normal, with just some special features. I'd like to know what they find out about your FIL. In the meantime, listen to the voice or just your 'gut' and honor it!

cancer cowgirl xo said...

Family: Great ideas! I'm writing them all down. KEEP THEM COMING and we will dazzle you on day one.

Goony: I wish I was a Crazy Sexy Doctor and could tell you exactly what is happening with your FIL. I can't. What I can tell you is only about YOU. You are not evil, there is NOTHING wrong with you. My dear, you are tapped in and just because you had a dream doesn't mean that you made this happen or can predict the future. Dreams are magical and so unknown. I too have very intense dreams all the time and sometimes the "star" of the dream is actually a piece or an aspect of myself - though it appears to be someone else.

Sometimes you will know what is ahead. Sometimes your dreams are just there to wake you up. Like a part of you is dying and as we know - with death comes new life.

Either way relax. Stay open and centered. You are wonderful and very connected to energy. None of this is your fault. Your love for him is known. Now get clear so you can help make important decisions for him. XO

ANY forum topics would enlighten and brighten me! I'm so very new to all of this - even though I've been semi-vegetartian/vegan for years - I still feel like I'm clueless. Bought a Breville & am juicing lots of green yummies in the morning (how do you actually get juice out of kale anyway???) and I'm back to doing dry skin brushing every other day or so. I guess a place for newbies like me would be a blessing! And most of all...THANK you Kris for giving me hope again!

Dee said...

Becky B- Do you mean, like your Kale isn't producing juice or what? LOL I am so confused by that comment. Or are you saying that the sheer volume of Kale you need to produce juice is astounding or what?

Kris! I have a question, are you going to be having like forum moderators or are you just going to have everybody do their own thing? Just curiosity. I am not applying for the position! LOL. But hey you know I'd do it in a heart beat. I meant more in the interest of everyones kind of...safety per say. So people like the flavnoids guy can't come running around on the posts. Moderators will have the opportunity to ban ips or certain users for spamming, stuff like that.

B said...

Dee - sorry for the confusion :-) I wad up the kale into a nice, tight little ball & juice it very slowly. I usually get a few teaspoons of juice with a nice size "ball" of kale (large apple size after being all compressed) My lovely juicer just grabs it & it's gone into the pulp collector before I can get more than a few teaspoons!! Help - what am I doing wrong here? Do I need to alternate layers of kale, cucumber, etc & hope for the best? Thanks for any info!

I went to a Reiki session tonite, it was pretty good, brought me to a nice quiet place where I could listen to my thoughts. I am making progress.

Hey CSC crew...
All ideas sound great. Only a few suggestions:
--A place to praise and thank folks/companies who rock!
--A place to list prayer/meditation requests
--A place for 'releasing the inner whiner' It's good to let it out sometimes!!! Go ahead, give yourself 60 seconds to really whine and bitch. It's done and then you can move on!
--A place for our art collection (photos, photos of other art forms, mp3s to share, etc.)
--A place for silliness (things that make us laugh and giggle)
--A calendar of interesting events happening around the country.

Have a great day friends. Prayers said for each of you waiting and struggling. Prayers said for each of you celebrating.

Today I had high fevers and missed work. At least the sun was shining here!

Kris:
Any tips on how to have a healthy, long-term relationship with your canSer team? I like that you touch your scanning bed. I found myself spontaneously grabbing my surgeon by both hands before my breast surgery. She is very cool and about my age (late 40's) and we had a "human" moment" before I was wheeled into the operating room by attendants in blue scrubs. I felt better for doing it. So, not only will I have a long term relationship with the mammogram, ultra-sound and MRI machines, I will have a long-term relationship with my surgeon, oncologist, radiologist and case manager. They are going to watch me like a hawk for recurrence, which is a great thing! But, how much should we share with them about these complimentary therapies we are pursuing (i.e., juicing, raw food, Poly-MVA, etc.) I want to tell them all about you and your work. Will they roll their eyes? Will they be pissed? Supportive? Will they treat me differently? Will they think I'm kookie?? Maybe they've heard it all, already? I'm at that stage right now where I want to share with them but I am afraid they are too "medical." Or, maybe that's just a front for their colleagues? Perhaps people can share their experiences with this in the forum?
With Love and sooo much appreciation for you,
Dale

Dee said...

Becky B- I had trouble with it at first too! For me, what works really well, is that I take a big handful (I have really small hands...LOL) and I rip it two or three times so it lays against one another.

I have a process with my juicing, first I slice my lemon in half (after rolling it around to get the juices flowing of course!) and pop that in the juicer on level '5' (I have a Breville and that's the highest level), I then toss in my kale and juice that at the same level, after that, I do my celery, and I finish it off at a level 1, for juicing my cucumber. I've found that when I juice 'juicier' items after my kale, more kale juice comes out, if that makes sense. Also the whole ripping helps too. What kind of kale are you using to juice? I've found certain kinds of kale juices way better.

My favorite inspiration that I recieved from this blog was the messages from TUT.com. There's nothing like a turbo-boost of optimism and empowerment to start your day off in the morning. I'd like to have more thoughtful words like that -- thoughts and insights that make you think. Kinda goes hand in hand with meditation/yoga...I'd love to see information about these topics!!

I know you're upset & worried. Now that your FIL is going into the hospital they will figure it out. Bleeding can be so many things. There are a number of options to ontrol bleeding-even using estrogen. The fluid in the lungs could be due to immobility if he's lying down alot of the time. It's treatable. Keep loving him & praying & be positive. I know it's easy for someone on the outside to say that, but stressing yourself is hard on your body & that I do know. Try to rest & let us know.

Hello Wonderful Human BEings! I have also been a lurker for a few months now after having been completely stunned by Kris' beautiful spirit and light on Oprah. I watched the show in a hospice training class and everyone was very moved.

I do not have canser - but my father was recently diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma at 68. This news has been very challenging as I am still recovering and grieving from my mom's sudden death of a heart attack in 2005 at the age of 58.

I am currently a hospice volunteer and deeply exploring end of life issues that affect us all. I am very excited about the new forum and will be an active reader. I am looking to improve my health and vitality so I can be of service to more people and my community. My only recommendation for the forum would be to have one for End Of Life Issues / Hospice Care / Living Wills, etc.. It may not be the most popular forum - but honest communication and dialog about these issues, even for people not facing life threatening situations, is essential in my humble opinion.

Also, FYI - there is a movie premiering this weekend here in Santa Fe called Solace, Wisdom Of The Dying www.SolaceTheMovie.com - that looks very moving and inspirational. Please watch the trailers on the website.

I thank you all for your amazing posts, and to you Kris, a true LIGHT in the world. I hope we get to meet someday.

With deep respect. Darren

Yes, yes, yes. Family and kids is a BIG ON' for me. I've got a hubby to nurture, three small gorgeous, amazing daughters 12,9,5 yo to nurture love and cuddle. I've got me, my soul, my body and my "job". How to do it all and stay away from caffeine.

I'd also add a yoga forum where one can exercise the bod and the mind all in one bunch. Yoga has been and continues to be my rock, like my breath, I can always come back to it during the those times when my mind is tricky and takes me from that balanced, centered place to the evil land of fear and future.

I love what you all do. Sending fluffy happy love vibes to you all.

In Joy.

Hey Kris. I think I'd like to know specific product/foods (brand names) you use or restaurants/places you frequent that support your raw lifestyle. As a busy girl, I don't have a whole lot of time to cook or juice at the moment. After graduation, I might, but I'm trying to support my newish lifestyle with on-the-go products/services/restaurants/chains/beauty products such as Froots, Larabars, ect. That might help!!!

gooney, I am so sorry about your boyfriend! THat must have been awful. I think that dreams are alot of things and one of them is what we are trying to work out in our heads, not what is going to happen. You are subconsciously probably trying to prepare yourself IF that happens. I know it's hard to think positive thoughts, but if you can find a quitet time/place for yourself and take 15 minutes and just imagine him coming home, saying hi, feeling better, etc. that might seep into your dreams. You are not evil or dirty for dreaming about a deep fear! In the meantime, the docs will figure it out. It sounds complicated perhaps by the knee surgery. Stay here when you need to. We're all pulling for you.

Well thanks, that made my day.. sometimes I feel double my 48 years!

As for the wheat grass powder: I can get it from my colonics lady.. just have to get a price. She was very cool about the pricing-swiping the canser card gals and guys!

Stay tuned... I visit a new onc this am to see if he is any better ie open minded than my current one.

davilasfe... I'm sure you meant well, but I'll be the one to say that your post is a huge downer. If you're looking for support in dealing w/ your Dad's diagnosis we are all here for you. It's really great that you're a hospice volunteer. That must be very meaningful. I don't mean to be harsh, but I have no interest in watching your death video.

Kris...maybe you can consider a section for that type of info. to be shared.

dancer...I am sending you nothing but healthy, vibrant energy for your bone marrow biopsy!

I love seeing all of our great ideas here every day & I'm really looking forward to Valentine's Day!

everyone...
because I'm on herceptin my heart must be monitored every 3 mos. Instead of a MUGA scan which involves injection of radioactive material, I go for an echocardiogram (similar to a sonogram) & request the ejection fraction. My onc., his nurse practicioner & the tech all agree that both give the same info. & an exact number. A friend of mine said her onc. told her she has to go for the MUGA because an echo does not give an exact number. I'd really appreciate everyone's 2 cents.

Dear Kris and CSC Family,

Well more white coat days. Today I head off for my monthly marcaine numbing. Thank God... I cannot wait for Yoga tomorrow and to not feel a bit of pain!!! WHHOO HOOO!

Precious Jennifer- I am so sorry your FIL is going back into the hospital and havaing problems. Like Kris I wish I had some medical information to help. What I can give you is a little dose of love. I can just hear the panic and fear in your words. I know that you love your FIL very much and like all of us wish we could save our loved ones from illness and pain and even death. We are very hard on ourselves for not being omnipotent. I know you are the one that needs the peace right now. The first thing I would do is check his state of mind. Is he frantic or at peace. He has been sick a while I bet he is not as frantic as you lovely one. Take a minute and remember that we cannot live for someone else. We can only love them. His journey is something none of have acess to. We will not know the day a life begins or when it will end. We can however make the middle a joyful time. Even when people are sick. For you to love him so much shows me that he is an amazing person. Now try and calm down. Cry if you need to sometimes a good cleansing cry can help. The wipe your eyes figure out his favorite book or meal and run over and read a bit to him or watch his favorite movie with him or ask him about his life things he loves and remembers. This way all his memories are yours to so that if he lives a hundred more years you will have those hidden little bits of treasure you can mine for the tme we will all be apart from our loved ones. About your dream. Honey God sometimes gives of a gift of letting us know a loved one has passed as in the case of your boyfriend to protect us. But then again.. we also dream about things we cannot deal with in this life. We dream of our fears , our anticipations, our conflicts. One has nothing to do with the other. They are just dreams. You probley knew on some level your FIL was sick and dreamed about that. I am so sorry your boyfriend died. And I am so sorry you are having such a hard time today. Some days are like that. Take a minute to meditate and catch your breath. It will be alright. Know we love you and are praying with all our hearts for your FIL you and your hubby.

Peace my friend.

Dianne I am so sorry about the layoff.. I am a firm believer in affirmations and I know the universe is bringing you something better than you ever dreamed. So dont dread leaving the house bound out into your new world and conquer it. I for one cannot wait to see what comes back to you.. the good and many blessings that are waiting. Just value yourself. let the past go and get to dancing. It is a new song and life is good. I will be praying the best job ever comes your way. I am like Kris though miracles are 10 percent faith and 90 percent hard work. So shake it baby. And be joyful. The old is gone and the best is yet to come.

Jenny- I am sure you knew someone would write this but I have a cancer patient I am working with at the mission and would love to pass a juicer along to her. She has a son who is having a time with Acute lymphatic leukemia. We are able to keep her in fresh veggies but... not new gadgets. If you are looking for a donation site think of visiting basicmissions.com and we would love to send you a tax reciept to deduct from your taxes.. If not.. know that is fine..You are precious and I love your idea about a sharing place.

Dancer- Congrads on your one year. And try to think happy thoughts about your one year marrow scan. I just had mine. It went surprisingly well. I know you are going to do fine and will be praying all is well and healthy and easy on you today.

So I have a prayer list in a half. I am currently reading Christy Turlingtons book called Living Yoga it is a beautiful book on integrating your life and spiritual practice with yoga and having it fit into your life and live a life of balance. I just finished Eat Pray Love for the thrid time and loved it. I am looking forward to the weekend and the book club discussion.

OK..I have begun a Lenten Study forty days to a new you on basicmissons.com so go by and visit do the forty days with us. We will be changing the site each evening after seven. After the group prayer so today will reflect Ash wednesday until then. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hugs and Many Blessings.
Extra hugs gooney and dancer and mhc and dianne.

Love peace and veggies Callie

Jenny,

I was in the same boat as you with the herceptin & 3 mo. heart checks. The first one was just the muga, then when the numbers started going down (bad thing) my oncologist sent me for both the muga & echo. The numbers weren't always the same and it seemed like he was looking for a second opinion. The lowest it got was 53...which he said was ok. Then the numbers got better as my diet got greener! I know correlation is not causation, but you never know! Had my last herceptin last Thursday-woo hoo! Hang in there!

Kris, Arose, Pooplinger, Dr. Sue, Becky, & Callie, thank you so much for your support.

The dreams are scarry. I don't think it is a gift to know someone you love is going to die. I don't want to know that. My boyfriend and I had split up before his accident, but he was my first love and you know that first love is so intense and intoxicating. The love I have for my FIL is very strong as well. Having lost my own father and handling it very cowardly, I think a lot of unresolved feelings are surfacing. My FIL has become very depressed in the last week. He calls me crying. I don't think he shares these feelings with his bioligical children because I usually know more about what is giong on with him than they do. My husband couldn't believe he was crying. I don't know if he has made peace with dying. I have been handling his bills and found out he has been sending money to a Christian Broadcast Station. They are actually charging him to pray. I know it is his choice, but I think he thinks doing this will get him into heaven, and he is so scarred. I feel like everything I say to everyone here to try to help them feel better is bullshit because I can't follow my own advice. I'll tell you one thing though. Last night after weeks of not sleeping I slept like a baby. I prayed the rosary for the first time ever in my life. It was like being put into a trance. The longer I repeated the prayers, the more at peace I became and then when I was done, lights out. Unfortunately it worked too well, because while my youngest son was sleeping next to me because he is sick with the flu, my oldest son was in his own bed throwing up all over the place and his yells for "mommy" fell on deaf ears. I woke up this morning to a big mess, and now 2 sick kids. I've been cleaning up vomit all morning. All I want to do is go be with my FIL, but I'm stuck here with my poor little lambs. Talk about being a downer, I'm so sorry. I think I'll feel better when I get some info from the docs.

Oh Jennifer
I feel your pain in your words...release the guilt and try to focus on your kids getting better.
Maybe the universe gave you the gift of caring for the wee ones today to give you a rest from your dear FIL.

The hard truth is (and I have been here so I know) the kids will be there, needing you, long after your FIL rests in heaven. Put them first..I had to make the same choices when my Mom was passing/sick. It does not mean you don't love him, it just means you have to make some hard choices.

lots of care and love

I recently finished Herceptin!!!!! I had MUGA scans every 3 months. My doctor pushed the MUGA, but I know some people do the ecko's. I don't think it really matters which one you do, but I think being consistent of which type of test is important.

My numbers didn't go down during herceptin, but they did go up after going green raw and wheatgrass....interesting but not surprising.

Speaking of raw.....I just got back from San Francisco (had a blast) but wanted to share about Cafe Gratitude. Has anyone heard of it? One of my best friends lives in San Fran and couldn't wait to get me there. It is an entirely raw food cafe with AMAZING food. The other cool thing is the names of the dishes. I had a "pad thai" that was called "I am terrific" and a wheatgrass juice that was called "I am delicious." When they serve you your food they tell you what you are and it is just a happy healthy all around cool place. I think they would love us. I live in western Ct, anyone want to open a cafe like that around here with me. We sure could use it!!!! I don't know where else Cafe Gratitude is, but if you can find one I highly suggest going!

So the new My Planet section of Planet Cancer (it's like, a myspace/blog/network in one for Planet Cancer, LOVE it!) got me even more excited for the CSC forum.

*keeps waiting, patiently at some times, not so much at others* <- this is one of the others, no?

Sandra Joseph- A forum is a place, like, well you can look at the My Planet to get an idea, or go to Give It To Me Raw to get another idea of how it all works. A forum is like a message board, where there will be separate topics for certain things, and it would keep everything more organized.

adventure grrl said...

Hi Ladies and Gents!

This is so exciting and I love how you are including us in shaping the forums. I LOVE the electric altar idea, I have never prayed for so many people I didn't know until I started reading this blog.

It makes me feel AMAZING to feel like I could be helping someone in some small way.

I would love something that would be "ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE DAY" - somewhere where we might put little quotes or mention things that are keeping us motivated, fulfilled, rockin', etc.

A little "pick-me-up" if you will!

LOVE TO ALL :)

adventure grrl said...

Okay, I sooo don't want to be a comment hog, but I wonder if there could be a HUMOR section, something along the lines of anecdotes, whether it's the stupid (I mean, "insensitive") things people say or a funny story that's inspirational.

Once my Cousin yanked off her cancer wig before jumping into a pool. We were all roaring with laughter but it also made us cry because she WOULD NEVER talk about her hair loss and we knew she was wanting to tell us, "I'm good with this" and "This disease ain't holding me back."

grendle,

Here's a green drink that may work for you. It's called Macro Greens, my Whole Foods just started carrying it. It does not have wheat grass in it. I am not allergic to wheatgrass, but highly allergic to something in Green Vibrance. I was running to the toilet all night! But, Macro Greens is great...it is gluten free, non-allergenic, and all natural. You might try it. Whole Foods gave me some free samples. I put a packet of sugar free Emergen-C in mine, to cut the green taste. Good luck

Can I ask a general question?

I have been juicing daily since I would say October. In the last 2 weeks, I really don't feel like eating much except things like oatmeal, lightish type food. I had tuna yesterday with Mayo and felt really sick.

Has the juicing changed my appetite or is my cancer behaving badly? My last scan on Friday showed no spread and my levels are not really high at all have not changed. I am terrified to talk to my doctor because I am afraid he'll say, "hmmm, sorry, your cancer is taking over now." I have been really stressed about a particular job I have been doing (I am a freelance designer), not really understanding where the client is coming from and feeling incredibly paranoid. Do you think that maybe this is just stressed induced? It FEELS like stress, but of course I am so paranoid....

Any thoughts? I have treatment tomorrow (just the Avastin) and don't know if I should say something to my doctor.

Becky- I would definitely let your doctor know, especially because you said 'in the last two weeks' meaning that obviously was a change from the normal. Things that we sometimes brush off as 'not that important' compared to other things, tend to be major indicators. It's really important to let your MD know what's going on.

That being said, it could be anything from stress, to a slow down in your metabolism, whatever. Have you tried kicking up your exercising and seeing if it in return kicked up your appetite? Do you keep a food journal at all?

Related to nutrition, I would like to see a discussion about grains and why some of us, like me, cannot tolerate them well at all, even the gluten free ones. We're told whole grains are supposed to be good for us, but they make me dizzy and bloated and make me gain weight. I was vegan for a while and would like to be again, but I don't do well with beans either, and I'm allergic to soy, so it's hard to keep weight on eating only veggies, fruit, nuts and seeds for me. I eat a little poultry and fish.

I have a friend who had a second bone marrow transplant about 2 years ago and is doing well. We met for lunch today and were talking about how the saying you are what you eat is so true and how hard we're trying to eat healthy. Coffee is my downfall. I even love the smell of it, not to mention the taste.

Wouldn't it be cool if this cancer thing fell in to that age old saying of Occam's razor:

"All other things being equal, the simplest solution is the best."

. . . in other words, when multiple competing theories are equal in other respects, the principle recommends selecting the theory that introduces the fewest assumptions and postulates the fewest entities.

Hope it is !

(FEAR-FREE) I completely agree! I have celiac disease so I cannot eat any gluten but I also cannot tolerate any other type of grain including rice. My stomach doesn't seem to be able to handle any type of grains and same goes with beans and soy as well. I would also love to be vegan but I find myself going back to eating poultry and seafood because I'm so limited with foods, when rice, beans and soy are out, it's hard to get filled!

Hi Kris,
The 'scientists' seem to be getting closer and closer to regenerating organs. Today on the news a part of a finger was regrown after a man lost the fingertip in an accident. When this becomes a reality would you, if possible, regrow your liver and lungs?

Jennifer said...

Clint,

I love your big brain! Well my first thought was, Oh shit if this is true I'm screwed!. And my second thought was if this is true, and people are successfully being cured of cancer with sodium bicarbonate, why isn't it more widely accepted as a treatment? I watched the video and then scrolled down to people claiming to get their candida in check by ingesting coconut oil. I'm currently reading the China Study and as you know, I'm sure, claims that animal protein is in fact what causes cancer. Do you think that our american diet, so high in animal protein, has something to do with our candida problem? And what is sodium bicarbonate? Is it something I can take for my candida? Oh, my head is spinning.

On a side note. I have now been stuck in the house for 3 days. The flu has invaded my children's little bodies. I still don't know what is happening to my FIL. They are going to insert a needle into his lung tomarrow to drain the fluid and try to figure out where it is coming from. He said he inhalled a shrimp a week ago, and thinks there is still a piece in his lung. WTF?! If that is so, shouldn't they be working a little faster to get it out? He will also be getting a colonoscopy to look for blood, and a cat scan. My husband's family, god love them, doesn't have the sense of urgency that I posess and aren't asking many questions. I want answers yesterday! The nurses won't give any info over the phone, and I can't get to the hospital because of the fricking flu. OK, deep breaths.

Britanie, I totally know what you mean about it being hard to find enough to eat with so many dietary limitations. You can only eat so many nuts too since they're hard on the digestion too. I love grains and wish they agreed with me.

I loved to loved for my brain, than you ! :-)

In answer to your question about why . . . "why isn't it more widely accepted as a treatment?"

The answer is very simple..... they can't make money off of it, it's not a drug.

It's the same reason they don't put any more money into researching Ozone (even though the Germans have been using it for 50 years now) and that's because you can't market as product as simple as Oxygen (Ozone) it's not a drug. SO, yes, it's about MONEY, and not about healing people. It's about Treatments, and not finding cures

The ONLY thing I go to a doctor for is blood test and X-Ray results, (radical I know)

Sorry to go off on ya... but hey... you asked. :-)

And why not try it out..it's cheap, very simple ....you have everything to gain, and nothing to lose....no ?

Hey Kris:

Have fun in SC ! ...and am gathering you DID get my email with my blog (sent it 2 days ago).

Goony,
Maybe your FIL has aspiration pneumonia? It could be possible of a piece of shrimp got into his lung, then the "foreign object" causes an infection. It is possible.
If you haven't found out yet, Sodium Bicarb is usually used as an antacid, or sometimes doctors will prescribe it to lower acidity in the blood or urine.
Hope the family is feeling better & keep getting your sleep if possible to keep up your immune system.

Hey Deb:

Just thought I'd add some levity to the area. :-)

I can only point you towards this website, which has examples. HTML is not my strong point.

This is the main site with many topics and examples:

@ Kris: your are right on in your flav guru wisdom, I am getting there with all the teachers in my life, they give hard classes.

@ Steve aka flavs: Thanks for finally writing something that is not a link..next step...use your real name or another moniker, stop using links and let us learn from you..we will be ready when you are ready to out yourself as a teacher, not as a spam ad.

love to you, off to the farmers market!

Hello to Kris and fellow bloggers,

Thank you so much for all of your posts. You are an inspiration to me.

I am new to all of this, and have learned so much just in the past few days.

Thank you again.

Hi everyone,
My name is Kathy and I'm a life coach client of CRAZYSEXYSHRINK Terri! I was hoping you could help give me the low down on this product a family friend suggested my mom take to help fight cancer... or I guess in my mom's case help her stay free of it. I have never heard of it, I don't understand it much, but I am open to anything. If anyone can either take a quick look at this website, or if you've heard of it, your input is GREATLY appreciated!
Under the products section you'll find one called Cantron-32. This is the one I am talking about
www.cancerchoices.com
Hoping everyone is fantastic! and thanking you all in advance

I checked back but did I miss the bus? :(

Here's my input.

Crazy Sexy __________:
Book and Movie Club
[To share books and movies of all types)
Doctor Recommendations (Referrals?)
[Have a good one? Need a good one? Post it!]
Padded Room
[We all need to vent, this can be the hot spot]
Resources/Links
[A place for compiling the bestest of best links]
PH (Placeholder for clever name)
[A place to discuss other rare, infectious or terminal illnesses that may or may not be related to cancer - it's all sexy, right?)

Hope that helps some. Also, if they're not set yet, I highly recommend VBulletin - it's secure and the administrator options are easy to work with.

Hi Clint!
Don't mean to pick you out of the crowd, but you seem to know tons, so I thought maybe you can take a look at a previous blog I posted and give me some advice on something called Cantron 32. The link again is
http://www.buycantron.com/product_info.php?products_id=207
or if you just google cantron 32 it pops up in case link doesn't work.
I appreciate any feedback!
Thanks!!!!!
